이미 배신할 생각으로 밤에 몰래 매트릭스로의 접속을 시도합니다.
Cypher: Whoa, Neo. You scared the bejeezus out of me.
Neo: Sorry.
Cypher: It's okay.
Neo: Is that...
Cypher: The Matrix? Yeah.
Neo: Do you always look at it encoded?
Cypher: Well you have to. The
image translators work for the construct program. But there's way too much
information to decode the Matrix. You get used to it. I...I don't even see the
code. All I see is blonde, brunette, red-head. Hey, you a... want a drink?
술과 여자는 역시 타락의 상징물인가요?
Neo: Sure
Cypher: You know, I know what you're thinking, because right
now I'm thinking the same thing. Actually, I've been thinking it ever since I
got here. Why, oh why didn't I take the blue pill?... Good shit, huh. Dozer
makes it. It's good for two things, degreasing engines and killing brain cells.

원래 대본에서 대사가 좀 빠지면서 몇가지 중요한 점이 영화에서는
나타나지 않습니다. 원래 대본에는 사이퍼가 비밀을 말해주겠다면서
이야기해주도록 되어있는 데요. 1. 모피어스가 '그를 찾았다'고
여긴적이 이번이 처음이 아니다. 2. 사이퍼가 온 뒤로 5명이 있었고
3. 모두 요원에게 죽임을 당했다. 이것이 바로 챕터 1.
trinity in a jam에서 사이퍼가 우리가 그를 죽일거라고 말하는
이유입니다. 또 이것이 사이퍼가 모피어스의 말을 믿지 않는 이유이고요.
그만큼 속았으면 이제 못믿을 만 하지요 뭐. 어쨋거나 이 대화를
통해 네오가 자신감을 조금 잃었으리라 생각 할 수 있습니다.
(Restaurant)
Agent Smith: Do we have a deal, Mr. Reagan.
Cypher: You
know, I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth,
the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years,
you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss.
Agent Smith: Then we have a
deal?
Cypher: I don't want to remember nothing. Nothing. You understand? And
I want to be rich. You know, someone important, like an actor.
Agent Smith:
Whatever you want, Mr. Reagan.
Cypher: Okay. I get my body back into a power
plant, you insert me into the Matrix, I'll get you what you want.
Agent
Smith: Access codes to the Zion mainframe.
Cypher: No, I told you, I don't
know them. I can get you the man who does.
Agent Smith: Morpheus.
사이퍼의
이름은 레이건이군요. 간단하게 매트릭스가 작동하는 원리를 설명해줍니다.
사이퍼의 설명대로라면 음식을 입에 넣으면 매트릭스는 뇌에 '맛있다'는
신호를 보내주는 것이죠.
그러나 이 거래는 사이퍼에게 아주
불리합니다. 매트릭스로 다시 들어간 다음에 모든 기억을 지워 버린다면,
이 '거래' 에 대한 기억도 지워질텐데 연예인이 될지 거렁뱅이가
될지 누가 안답니까. 파란약을 왜 안골랐을까 후회해봤자 소용없습니다.
다시 원상복귀할 가능성은 (요원이 해주겠다고는 하지만) 역시 제로.
네오가
'그'임을 믿지 않는 사이퍼는 모피어스를 팔아먹기로 합니다. 루시퍼
이름의 변형이라고도 하는 사이퍼. 유다가 예수를 팔아넘길 때 최후의
만찬을 했듯이 사이퍼도 맛있는 식사를 합니다.
그리고 기억나십니까?
제일 첫장면 트리니티가 도망치고 나서 요원들이 '정보가 사실이었군'
이라고 하는거요. 이미 그 때부터 사이퍼는 요원과 접촉하고 있었던
것이죠.
